72/72 Prayer Event

WED 14 - SAT 17 AUGUST 2024

72/72 is a Zoom Prayer Event where we pray through all the electorates in the nation in geographical order. We start at one end of the nation and work our way through to the other over 72 hours. Each electorate has one hour dedicated to it and, on the hour we shift to the next electorate as per the schedule. We generally kick off each electorate with a song to bring our focus onto the Lord, as many of us are zooming in from busy lives.  As we do this, we invite the Holy Spirit to come and lead us to the very things that are on the Father's heart. Our goal is to see the governmental structures over the whole nation, each and every electorate, brought under the Lordship of Christ, as we stand in the gap to intercede on the mountain of government.

FAQ

Everything you need to know about our 72/72 Prayer Events...

Question:

Answer:

If I join at the beginning of an electorate hour, do I have to stay for the whole hour?

No. ANYONE is free to come and go as they please for ANY electorate slot. Please keep yourself muted if someone else is praying or there is worship playing, otherwise background noise can be quite distracting for other people. If you know how to use the chat function, you could say goodbye in there as you leave.

Question:

Answer:

How can I get hold of you 72/72 Booklet to ensure that I have all the relevant information at my fingertips?

It will be emailed to you directly when you register but, if it hasn't arrived, you can just email us to get it sent through.

Question:

Answer:

How do I get the Zoom link for the event?

The Zoom link will be emailed out to all those who have registered the day before the event begins, or ASAP if you register after that. Please check your spam box and that you have given us your correct email address (sometimes there are inadvertent typos if you registered in a hurry).

Question:

Answer:

Do I need to pray out loud if I come onto 72/72?

No. If you don't feel comfortable with praying out loud it is still powerful to agree with others who are praying. You can also pray in the Spirit or pray in your own heart. You may be asked if you'd like to pray out loud, but you are most welcome to politely decline. The request will be out of respect, as often some find it easier to speak up and others tend to wait until they are asked.

Question:

Answer:

What if I'm not confident in the language being used to pray for that electorate (generally English or Māori)?

You are most welcome to pray in any language that you are comfortable with and others will agree with you. It might be helpful to let the Zoom leader know that you'd like to pray in your own language and they can make some space for you. Also, it might be helpful to give a few key words or a theme that you're praying into to help others connect.

Question:

Answer:

What if I'm not an "intercessor"?

We are all just people that love the Lord and want His will and blessing for everyone in Aotearoa NZ. 72/72 is a wonderful opportunity to ask the Lord for that. Give it a try, you might just LOVE it!

Question:

Answer:

If I'm not sure what to pray, how do I get started ?

Grab your Bible and open it. Listen for the Holy Spirit leading. Here are some scriptures that may help:

Micah 6:8 (Justice, mercy, humility)

2 Chronicles 7:14 (prayer, healing the land)

Hosea 10:12 (seeking the Lord, righteousness)

Daniel 7:26-27 (God's kingdom and dominion)

Lamentations 3:22-26 (God's love, compassion, mercy)

Jeremiah 29:11 (God's plan, hope)

Habakkuk 2:1 (positioning ourselves, listening to God)

Question:

Answer:

How can I prepare myself for this important time of interceding for the nation?

BODY: Drink water. Have snacks close by. Make sure you get enough sleep.

PRACTICAL: Gather local knowledge. Look at electoral boundaries. Find out about and speak to your MP. Consider the young: early childhood centres, schools, safety, sports etc. Consider the elderly: retirement villages, accessibility, medical care etc. Consider the economy: businesses, workforce, welfare etc. Prepare to stand in the gap.

SPIRITUAL: Have your Bible, pen & notepaper. Use your spiritual language. Worship wholeheartedly!

Question:

Answer:

Can I pray for areas of  New Zealand that I know nothing about?

Yes. There will always be someone leading the hour who will give information about the electorate at the beginning. The Holy Spirit leads and guides us as we pray as He knows what the needs are better than we do.

Question:

Answer:

How do I leave the Zoom meeting when I need to go?

You can either message the person leading the hour and tell them you need to go, or you can click on the LEAVE THE MEETING button after waving to the others on the call to show you are leaving. It is preferable to do it quietly so as not to disrupt the flow of prayer.

Question:

Answer:

Do I have to commit ahead of time to which hours I will come on over the 3 days?

No. You don't need to commit to anything but it is helpful to decide which time or times you are able to join and have it on your calendar or phone so you don't miss out.
